Welcome to another article and video on the Passport Talent. In this series I’m going through the 10 different categories that people can apply for with this visa. If you have the opportunity to work with a company in France on a new and innovative project, then this could be your chance to move to France. This video covers the category for Innovative and New Companies in France.

The Passport Talent: Innovative New company or the (JEI) status is a residence permit for foreign employees recruited by an innovative new company or in French a (Jeune enterprise innovante – JEI).

If you want to obtain this category of the passport talent, you will need to undertake a position in connection with the research and development of a project in a French company.

Keep in mind the tax authorities have three months to state their position via a tax ruling, and if you do not respond this means you accept and recognise the company as a status of JEI. It’s important to recognise this tax ruling while enclosing all the documents below.

Here are the basic documents you will need:

  • Passport
  • Your birth certificate (translated )
  • Your wedding certificate if you are married (translated)
  • Your kids’ birth certificates (translated)
  • Proof of address
  • Three ID photos
  • Application

Keep in mind that employees must also be able to provide the following documents to support their application.

  • Form CERFA n ° 1561 * 034, setting out elements of the employment contract
  • An employment contract for more than three months with an innovative new company showing gross annual pay of at least 2 times the statutory national minimum wage (SMIC), i.e. €36,946.08 as of January 1, 2020.
  • Any document establishing that the employer is recognised as an innovative new company and providing evidence of a direct relationship between the position in question and the company’s research and development project.
